GONE
THE PROBLEM
Most razor handles are built by industrial conglomerates and contain plastics and mixed materials which can last a few thousand years in landfill.
Many blades even use PFAS, the so-called ‘forever chemicals’, to make the first stroke smooth.
GOOD DESIGN LEAVES NOTHING BEHIND
Hair-free. PFAS-free. Plastic-free.
THE SOLUTION
We are re-engineering it: a biodegradable handle, blades with zero PFAS coating, zero plastic anywhere and a shave that shaves.
-
Ordinary things shouldn’t outlive the people who use them.
They should work well, look right, and, when their time is over, leave nothing behind.
Most razors fail that test — plastic heads, coated blades and mixed materials that can’t be recycled. We wanted something better - so we’re making it.
The Gone handle is biodegradable. In compost it disappears; in an incinerator it burns clean. Even in landfill it breaks down within months, not centuries. The handle shape comes from a hexagonal pencil- the first thing you learn to hold. It sits naturally in the hand and keeps its grip when wet.
Most big-brand razors chemically coat blades and cartridges. The strip that promises “aloe” usually has a petro-chemical base and the blades often carry PFAS — the “forever chemicals” which promise a smooth first stroke and then remain forever. We deserve better than rubbing industrial chemistry into our faces to get a clean shave.
Gone blades are made of Swedish steel and use a micro-platinum finish — inert, safe, and sharp where it matters.
Gone is a razor that does its work and goes.
